FavIconIt App Reviews
can
please, more info - i cant find it in documents - same name? - why no preference settings?
I dont like it that this app downscales the image - it is a loss of quality. Especially I am missing a feature to load just one image, e.g.32x32 or even 144x144 and to convert it to an ico file of the same size. I hope, this app will improve.
This is exactly the type of app I wish I had for a while now. Its simple and does exactly what I need it to do, and in a very elegent and attractive way. My only complaint is that I really wish I could set the output location. Instead of having favicons go to a folder in Documents, Id rather they go to the source location.
I too would love to see a choice for save destination. Also an option to create a single .ico file with all three resolutions, rather than only being able to get them as separate files. But it works great, and you couldnt ask for anything to be easier! :)
No Preferences at all. Would love to create custom sizes for more just favicons and to be able to specify a folder and file type each time. Thats it. Maybe presets too.
This is a great application! Its so easy to use and it supports multiple file formats (see above). Just drag your image onto the app and automagically it creates a file on your desktop with the favicons in three different sizes, awesome! Will give developers much more time to spend working on the actual website, a must have for developers.
This little app paid for itself in a manner of seconds! Sure, I could have slaved away in a bloated image app, played with resizing, adjusted pixels, etc. But for under a buck, this did it all—clean looking icons, proper formatting, saving a convenient place. No muss, no fuss. Even if I never use it again, it was already a bargain.
I only rated it 2 stars since it really bothers me that you cant select a destination to select the files when converting. Please update and ill give it a 5 star rating, other that that its simple, clean and very handy...
Purchased, installed, created icons and uploaded to website in far less time than it takes to wade through a few google search results on how to do the same thing by other means. Great little app, well worth the price. I do think it would be nice to be able to set the location for the output, but that can be for v 1.1. Thanks to the developer for making my life just a bit easier.
1. Agree with Hafsteinn - would be nice to select destination files. Theres "Preferences" under File but we cant get into it to make the change! 2. Would be nice to have one button to toggle between "crop" or "fit" so you can decide to either crop a non-square image or squeeze it. All other changes Im happy to do within an imaging program first. Otherwise very nice!
This is perfect and very simple to use. But I agree with other users that there needs to be an option to select the destination folder. It would be perfect and well worth the 5th star if it had that option.
Just wanted to let everyone know that whilst you may end up with a 16 x 16 file with the extension .ico, its not a true icon file. Its just a renamed .png. This will generate errors in some browsers when placed as the favicon of a particular site youre working on. Do not trust this as a true icon file. Ive had to go back and rename the files to png, and run them through other true icon conversion software, not just a resizer and renamer. The error youll get is Image corrupt or truncated: <unknown>, you can view this through the console of several browsers as an error.
What could be better: 1. Filename and destination 2. Save a multiple resolution .ico 3. Save an actual .ico file, not a renamed png Otherwise it does its job fine - but for web favicons you need a real .ico format otherwise some browsers generate an error.
Id give it more of a 3.5 over a 3, but not being able to set the destination is really bothersome. Outside of that essential, and I mean ESSENTIAL need, the app is great! Maybe well see an update on its anniversary. One can dream.
The simple interface seems nice at first, but its overly minimalist to the point where I cant find the icon. It says its saved to my documents, but its not there.
Not true icons
These are not true icons.
Looked like this might take various size pngs and turn them into a combined ico file. Seems to just rename your pngs to .ico and not do any combining or anything useful really.

Mediocre
The simple interface seems nice at first, but it's overly minimalist to the point where I can't find the icon. It says it's saved to my documents, but it's not there.
Almost Perfect!

Yikes

Perfect for web designers!

Great but needs 2 things -

Let the user decide where to save the files
